Sparkling wine from Champagne France is Champagne, sparkling wine made everywhere else is sparkling wine. In Spain sparkling wine is called Cava. It is a wine that is not overly popular in the US and for no good reason. The wine industry in Spain has a rich history and good track record of producing good reasonable priced wines. Consumption of sparkling wine in Spain is more than double the US, so you would expect good wines to come from Spain. Their sparkling wines represent superior value and quality. With the holidays upon us, I thought a good sparkling wine recommendation was in order.
Segura Viudas, is an excellent producer of Cava (sparkling wine). Their Aria Estate Brut is a top notch wine, which went over well with family and friends this Thanksgiving that I can wholeheartedly recommend the wine. It’s a Brut style wine so it is on the drier side and offers a floral nose with hints of yeast. A truly great aperitif or the perfect wine to take to the dinner or to friends for the holidays. The $10.00 I paid for the wine won’t break the bank either.
